UAE Joins First BRICS Heads of Geological Services Meeting

UAE, 23 July, 2024 : The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, participated in the inaugural meeting of BRICS countries' heads of geological services. The virtual meeting, focused on “Prospects for BRICS Cooperation in the Study, Development, and Sustainable Use of Mineral Resources,” was led by Khalid Al Hosani, Director of the Geology and Mineral Resources Department. 

The UAE delegation included ministry employees and representatives from the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation. The meeting covered the development of the geology and mineral resources sector, the establishment of a geological platform for BRICS countries, and advancements in digitizing geology.

Participants agreed to initiate periodic dialogue among BRICS geological services heads to unify efforts, enhance interaction, and develop the geological platform for BRICS countries.
