UAE Chairs 114th Arab Economic and Social Council Session, Focuses on Development and Cooperation

UAE, 5 September, 2024 : Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Assistant Under-Secretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Economy, chaired the 114th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council (AESC) in Cairo. The session, held at the Arab League headquarters, prepared for the council’s ministerial meeting.

Al Kait's opening remarks covered discussions from the preparatory meetings, focusing on fostering growth and leveraging resources among member states. Key topics included updates on the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA), the Arab Customs Union, and enhancing investment and cooperation in areas such as tourism, space, and trade.

The session also followed up on decisions from the 113th session and highlighted joint Arab development projects.
