Oman, 8 May, 2025 : Member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) signed the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention on Anti-Corruption in the Maldives, an initiative led by Saudi Arabia.
The agreement, signed during the Saudi-Maldives International Forum on Integrity (May 6–7, 2025), aims to strengthen cooperation among law enforcement agencies in combating corruption, tracing illicit funds, and enhancing technical support and training.
Oman was represented by Sheikh Ghosn Hilal Al Alawi, Chairman of the State Audit Institution, and had contributed feedback during the drafting process. The convention covers offenses such as bribery, embezzlement, money laundering, and obstruction of justice across both public and private sectors.
